coffee suppressant

kie: back in schuylkill county, pa
kiel: wired and drunk. go figure.
kio: nothing, my parents are asleep and if i put any music on (or even make the slightest noise), my mom will wake up, come in my room all squinty-eyed, and say in a loud whisper that i am going to have to go to the hospital if i don't go to sleep. i don't know if that is a warning or a threat...

according to many anonymous sources, there are three things to do in schuylkill county after 9 pm:

  1. go bowling
  2. go to dunkin dounts
  3. go drinkin'

well. friends, two out of three ain't bad for the three or so days i've been home. i guess i will save the bowling for later.

last night i was at dunkin donuts from about 9:00 pm until 2:45 am. yes, that is 5 hours and 45 minutes. yes, that is enough time to watch two out of three lord of the rings movies (not extended versions, though). yes, that is enough time to drive to massachusetts from here. yes, that is enough time for the average person to blink over 4000 times.

i liken this not to an overly pathetic existence, but to the times of jonathan swift, where educated men spent their days in coffeehouses philosophizing, discussing the state of the country, and fermenting novel and wild ideas about various issues.

anyway, so basically for the past few days i've been shopping (for christmas gifts and for cars) in the afternoons and ending my days at our local bagel bistro. also, i read the three musketeers. good book. reminded me of 10th grade english class when, for my oral book report on same, i dressed up like a musketeer, sword and all. yeah. you love it.

the semester is over, and i'm somewhat glad. i also, in the last few weeks of said semester, helped marc design a new experiment for chem e senior lab. that was fun. my grades this semester are okay. not good, but not bad. whatever. it's only 11 credits worth anyway.

oh boy here come the shakes. the whole reason i came home and drank beer was so that i could feel its relaxing depressant effects. well, actually i came home and drank beer because i like beer. it seems, however, that coffee has triumphed over its foe, in spite of it being outnumbered 60 ounces to a mere 16. well done, old bean... well done indeed.

my cough is finally starting to go away, and it seems i'll be well enough for my choir gig at holy family church in new philly on christmas eve. yup.

as i wander around schuylkill and surrounding counties, i realize that at least one trait of my dad's has rubbed off on me. i know lots of people. i originally had a list of people that i recognized in the past 3 days in this spot, but i decided against that, since i know that everyone googles himself once in a while. so let's just say that that number is around 50.

all right, time to lie in my bed and stare at the ceiling until coffee looses me from its iron grip. good night.
