raptor attention

today i was walking to school, and i was on campus when i looked over to see a huge [what i think was a red-tailed] hawk like 18" tall sitting on a sign. as i stopped to stare at it, it swooped about 5 feet in front of me, crossed the street, narrowly avoided being hit by a truck, and freaking grabbed a chipmunk off the ground and then totally started eating it! sadly, there was no one around to high five.
