let's not forget milli vanilli's "girl you know it's true"
i've been thinking that the contributions that each of us makes to life in general, while they can be significant, are rather small.
here are some examples.
shakespeare wrote 37 plays and 154 sonnets. he is the quintessential english playwright, yet his complete works can be bound in two volumes.
the beatles made 13 studio albums, the entirety of which one can listen to in about 9 hours.
einstein published three short papers in 1905, which can be read in about an hour.
two thoughts come to mind here.
(1) the number and size of one's accomplishments does not necessarily make them great
(2) a corollary: quality is of the utmost importance. if you're going to make something, make it great and it will be memorable.
but memorable to whom? and how many? is that important?
