did you know baltimore has a subway? it is a convenient way to get from homewood to the inner harbor.
1) take the jhmi shuttle to the hospital.
2) go down to the subway station
3) $1.60 and 3 stops later you're at lexington market, merely 4 blocks from pratt street! remarkable! just don't do it at night.
i was in "heidi" at the dinner theatre a little while ago. children's theatre is kind of interesting, and it's a bit different than acting for an audience of grown ups. it's easier, in that when your audience is mostly under 5 they have no idea what's going on anyway, so if you mess up or something, no big whoop. it's difficult in that the crap that you have to do is so child-oriented that you have to really act like you like it. and "heidi" is no exception. believe me.
and excerpt from the finale:
"in switzerland our home
you'll find the best of cheese
and all the goats climb up
the mountain tops with ease"
also, earlier this summer (the week after south pacific ended) dave and i got roped into doing "VIVA BROADWAY!" (caps and exclamation point. and you know how i feel about shows with exclamation points.) ridiculous, and probably illegal, since the whole show was constructed ad hoc and i never heard anyone mention anything about royalties. they might have some leeway since they're a non-profit and, as michael jackson knows, suing a non-profit for copyright infringement is difficult (jackson owns the rights to many beatles songs and it is rumored [though i cannot find any evidence at this time] he sued over "letter B")
right. miss helen really needs to yank herself out of 1959. she's really starting to piss me off. i got yelled at at least 3 times for casually talking to rachel (who is 15, by the way) and then later asked if anything was going on between us. oh man you should have seen the look i shot her. it was like saying "i can't BELEIEVE you would even think that! in fact i am INSULTED!" it must have worked too, because later on she came up and apologized.
so that was dumb and i promised myself i would go out of my way to get out of doing anything more for them until south pacific in the fall. so screw them!
what else? my 4 clones finally grew (i am taking the 4th to be sequenced today) so essentially, i can start my project.
every other weekend after sp was going places and doing things:
july 4: home to pa with a few friends to watch my family get drunk and sing karaoke.
july 11: off to walkerton, va for fun on the river with the crawfords and watching mama and papa crawford drink the liquor we bought them.
july 18: bel air to my cousin's graduation party to drink with family again and hang out with my young, hip cousins. babies and babies-to-be abounded, as in the last 3 years and the next 2 there will be or have been 4 weddings in the family.
ok i'm off to the med school. stay tuned for another edition of "lab life" coming soon!
