here is a brief pictorial summary of my life in the past 2 weeks:

i filed the paperwork for my master's degree on thursday, august 18. by august 22, i was registering for classes at cornell, which, incidentally, began on thursday, august 25. yup.

i left baltimore on saturday, knowing i'd be back to it soon enough. this has all happened so fast, though, that it has taken a while to sink in. in fact, i didn't realize that i was actually leaving town until i took the car out of park and drove away.

i miss baltimore, sort of. i miss the good parts, i guess. like sarah, i miss her :). but it's cool, we've been talking on the phone pretty much every day, so it's not so bad, really. today (saturday) is the first day i've had all week to actually sit and think about all that's happened, and i must say that despite missing people and places that all my feelings average out to a "good".

it really helps that i'm living with someone i know, and on that note, someone really cool. moving in with sam was a great idea.

also, i'm ganking internet from some less secure neighbors, but the signal is really spotty. sometimes i get it, sometimes i don't. but it's good because i can keep in touch with folks now when i probably need it the most.

it looks like classes are going to be a bit challenging this semester (year) but i think that since all 16 or so of us first-years are in the same boat that it won't be too terrible. plus, it's only four classes, so hopefully not too big of a workload...

my place here is nice, albeit a bit small. it is VERY conveniently located relative to campus (about a 10 minute walk to olin hall, the cheme building). by the way, cornell's olin hall is much easier to find than hopkins' olin hall.

last night i got absolutely shitty with some older grad students in the delisa lab. i'm talking start drinking at 5 and stumble home at 1 shitty. totally destroyed. in fact i was hung over until, oh, 20 minutes ago (8:00).

yup. so that's me in ithaca. feel free to come visit, it's only about 5 hours from baltimore. sorry this entry is not all that entertaining but i'm feeling very, um, blah at the moment.
