screw murphy.
i am notoriously bad at estimating the time it will take me to complete tasks. especially when it comes to the lab. and today i realized something. it's because i always look forward to the best case scenario.
one time, i drove to school in 12 minutes, ergo the drive takes 12 minutes. a miniprep takes 20 minutes if you're in a hurry, so to me it always takes 20 minutes.
in reality, things always go wrong. despite all the skepticism (some call it cynicism) that has been instilled in me by studying science, i rarely ever imagine that the things that invariably go wrong will always go wrong. somehow and for some reason i'm still an optimist. an esperanto, if you will.
