LAN party

feelin: groovy

now playin': nothing, i'm in the resnet office.

haven't had much time to blog since moving in on sunday.  having a house is a big pain in the butt.  there's so many things to worry about besides rent.  for example, unwanted pets like mice.  we bought some mousetraps, but it took the cheese and escaped.  so my dad suggested peanut butter.  perhaps that will catch him.

so i'm back here in baltimore, working 2 jobs: research with marc ostermeier and working for resnet.  i'm trying to do 4 hours a day on each, but that's just not working out how i'd like it too.  as in i'm not at the lab enough.  when i am there though, i'm doing some cool stuff.  it's mostly bio-oriented, and i haven't had ANY biology classes since my freshman year of high school.  so it's a bit difficult.  now i'm in the middle of giving myself a crash course in molecular biology to catch up.  haha that and my crash course in french (which hasn't really taken off yet), and wanting to start running again (which also hasn't taken off yet), are making me pretty busy.

resnet calls are finally slowing down, so i'll be able to work on resnet stuff independently (from home) so that will give me more time to work at the lab during normal hours.  obviously calls are down because i'm blogging from freaking resnet.  i still don't know how much they're paying me an hour.  it better be more than last semester.  and research pays very nicely, so things are looking up.

which is good because i'm pretty much broke, what with rent, buying furniture, etc.  and buying a 750 DOLLAR PLANE TICKET.  yeah.  and of course i'll need spending money in france.  easy come, easy go i guess.

i set up a nice little LAN in our house.  well, it's just mine and pete's computers hooked together with a crossover cable, but i did get us to share our internet connection.  lemme tell you, shared dial-up is not a good thing.  but it's better than nothing.  thing is, netzero, which pete has, shares just fine, but disconnects after 15 minutes of idle time.  AOL will not share.

more later

end transmission.
